Classes for Adults
Faith and Practice Series
Current Study: “Called to Serve”
Sundays, April 12 through April 19, 2026 @ 10 a.m.
Led by the Rev. Dr. Chris Girata
At Saint Michael, we seek to grow as disciples by making commitments to pray, to learn, to serve, and to give. This year, we have been encouraged to reflect in particular on our commitment to serve, and we’ve been invited to serve both in the church and in the world. This brief series will help us reflect on how our commitment to service shapes us both as individuals and as a community of faith, to explore ways we can continue to make service an integral part of our life of faith, and to envision who God calls us to be by calling us to a ministry of service.
Bible Series
Current Study: “Understanding the Culture of The BIble”
Sundays, April 26 through May 17, 2026 @ 10 a.m.
Led by Dr. Tim Smith
While Christians everywhere believe that the Bible is the word of God, we can easily forget that reading the Bible is a cross-cultural experience. Complicating our understanding of the text is that when we read the Bible, we tend to do so through our own culture, trying to make sense of the text on our terms rather than the Bible’s. This study will help attendees come to a greater understanding of the main elements of the culture of the Bible and how those impact the text, leading to a deeper understanding of the original meaning of a text through its cultural context.
