Prayer Book Spirituality: Reconciliation
Group: Faith and Practice Series
In Room 201
Led by the Rev. Kenneth H. Brannon
Sundays, February 7-21
“All may, some should, none must.” Many of us have heard this famous saying about confession in The Episcopal Church. We don’t demand that everyone partakes of this sacrament, but those who have experienced it can tell you it’s a source of deep joy, freedom, and healing. In this class, we will consider the biblical, theological, and psychological rationales for repentance and forgiveness. We will look at how this rite has evolved over time and across denominations. And we will walk through the two forms of reconciliation provided in our prayer book, so participants can consider whether they might be called to partake of this sacramental gift, particularly in Lent.
