Over the summer, our historic Building our Future construction project made significant progress and it’s not slowing down. As we continue to achieve our milestones, this project is on time and on budget!

Construction Updates and Highlights

On June 17, Saint Michael hosted its Topping Out Ceremony to celebrate the near completion of the structural build part of the construction project. This was a significant moment to celebrate the Campaign Co-Chairs, Ann and Lee Hobson and Mary and Matt Waller; the Campus Construction Committee; the Architectural Review Committee; Beck construction team; steel workers; current and past members of the Vestry; Saint Michael staff; and others who have put in countless hours of dedicated work and have played instrumental roles in making this dream a reality.

During July and August, the construction team made exciting progress on our new building. The framing and rough-in work for the basement and Level 1 is now complete, which means all the “behind-the-walls” systems—plumbing, electrical, and HVAC—are in place. The next step will be closing in the walls with insulation, drywall, and finishes that will begin to bring each space to life. Significant progress was also made on the exterior walls, which are being built in layers of framing, insulation, and protective materials that make the building strong, energy-efficient, and weather tight.

Upcoming Milestones

Tower Crane During the week of September 8, the tower crane is coming down! Removing the crane means that our new building’s main structure is complete, and we can now shift our focus on more detailed work, including walls, floors, windows, and finishes. This is a visible sign that we’re one step closer to using the new space together.

Dry-In Date At the end of September, likely the third week (weather permitting), we will mark the official “Dry-In Date.” At this stage, the roof, exterior walls, some glass, and temporary doors will be in place, protecting the building from weather. Once a project reaches dry-in, interior work such as electrical, plumbing, insulation, and finishes can safely begin without risk of weather damage.

We remain deeply grateful to God and our parishioners who have so wholeheartedly embraced this project and continue to support the progress being made with such enthusiasm. Before long, our community will enjoy a beautiful new campus—one designed to strengthen connections within our congregation and to inspire growth in our discipleship like never before.
