Exile & Return

Sun, June 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Group: Engaging the Word (Bible Series)

Room 201

Led by the Reverend Dr. Andrew Grosso

When the Hebrew people were conquered by the Babylonian empire, it prompted a complete rethinking of Hebrew faith and practice. The experience of exile in Babylon and eventual return to Israel shaped the development of Jewish belief well into the first century of the Common Era. Understanding the Babylonian captivity thus provides us with a more informed perspective on the life and ministry of Jesus and the experience of the first Christians. It also provides us with helpful insights for thinking about how we can be faithful people in our own day. Attending this series will enable you to recognize the points of contact between the Old Testament, the New Testament, and our own day.
