Jordan DeRouen
Principal Organist
Saint Michael is thrilled to welcome Jordan DeRouen as the new Principal Organist. A native of DeRidder, Louisiana, Jordan DeRouen earned his Bachelors of Sacred Music at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he studied organ with Dr. Mary de Ville and piano with Dr. Christine Allen. Additionally, he studied organ improvisation with E. Ray Peebles, organist and artist in residence at First Methodist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. He received the Master of Music in Organ Performance from Southern Methodist University in 2016, studying with Stefan Engels and Dr. Chris Anderson. Jordan has also participated in the French Organ Music Seminar (FOMS) where he received instruction from some of the most influential organists in the world such as Olivier Latry, Louis Robillard, Thomas Ospital, Frédéric Blanc, François Espinasse, Jean-Baptiste Robin, and Thierry Escaich. Jordan feels he is coming home to Dallas after having lived here for 5 years, serving as organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Dallas, and at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in Richardson. Before coming to Saint Michael, Jordan spent 7 years as the Organist and Choirmaster at the Basilica of St. Peter in Columbia, South Carolina.
When not making music, he enjoys spending time traveling, studying history, exploring local cuisine, and relaxing with his cat, Hedwig.
