TELA, HONDURAS DAY 4
Thursday, February 22, 2024
By the Rev. Robin Hinkle
Whew--what a day! The majority of the team made the trip to the Citronella barrio. We started the day by providing fluoride treatments to 110 children! Thank goodness for the practice round we had the day before. We were greeted joyously as soon as we drove into the school grounds. A flock of excited children surrounded us with shouts of welcome and with hugs. We spread out over 4 classrooms keeping the masses of 130 children busy with all sorts of arts and crafts as the fluoride team got to work. The children love our projects, and no matter their age, are enthusiastic about doing all the day's activities. I love watching our team so lovingly and patiently embrace the chaos in their own special way. Jenn Perez had her early elementary school kids playing Simon Says. Another group would burst into song time every once in a while. After lunch we had a group song time with maracas and bells, and then a huge number of the children played soccer with our missionary team. As the children left we gave them toothbrushes and toothpaste and a pack of cookies. Blessings of joy this day!
