SAINT MICHAEL'S ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC AND ORGANIST, DR. MARGARET HARPER, APPOINTED VISITING LECTURER OF ORGAN AT BAYLOR UNIVERSITY
For the 2022-2023 academic year, Saint Michael’s Associate Director of Music and Organist Dr. Margaret Harper has been appointed Visiting Lecturer of Organ at Baylor University. In this role, she will teach organ lessons for undergraduate and graduate organ students and will coordinate the school’s organ studio. Meg will remain full-time at Saint Michael, and will continue with her normal responsibilities with the church’s music department.
It’s a huge honor for Saint Michael to have one of our music staff selected to teach as interim organ professor at Baylor University. For a number of decades, Baylor has enjoyed world-famous organ professors and a strong, vibrant organ department. I’m thrilled for Meg and Baylor! It’s particularly meaningful for me as a Baylor organ department alumn to see someone as superb, knowledgeable, and skilled as Meg at the helm this coming year. Meg's teaching at Baylor is a wonderful opportunity for Saint Michael to have a greater impact on church music and liturgy beyond our walls.
Jonathan Ryan
Director of Music and Organist
Dr. Harper has considerable experience as a musician and as a teacher, both in the academy and in the church; her knowledge and expertise will be of tremendous benefit to the students at Baylor. Her dedication to the highest standards of excellence will likewise encourage her students to strive for a level of understanding and ability that they might otherwise feel is beyond them.
