SUMMARY:Compline Service- Alleluia
DESCRIPTION:Group: Parish Events \nIn the Church \nWhat does the word\, “Alleluia” actually mean to us? We say it throughout prayers\, in passing joy and exultation in our daily lives. It has a myriad of spellings\, and pronunciations both throughout geographical regions and time periods. As a riff on the original Hebrew Hallelujah\, it carries its meaning in its very sound: Hallelu is the plural call to praise\, or to shine\, and Yah the poetic breath of Yahweh\, the sacred name of God\, together it forms a declamation: praise the Lord. Literal translation aside\, the word itself is still a mosaic of meanings all of which are somehow universally understood. The Compline Choir invites us to explore its meaning during the season of Epiphany; a time of theological acceptance of Christ’s identity\, and one of the final bursts of joy before our solemn journey of forty days and forty nights. Come\, and experience Alleluia\, a welcome and warm embrace of joy that invites us to gaze upward to the light and divinity itself.
