Mission Trip to New Orleans 2008

 

Saint Michael will be sponsoring a
Mission Trip to New Orleans June 19-22
We will be receiving recognition from local government officials
and we need more volunteers!

We’ll be working with Trinity Episcopal (The Rev. Hill Riddle's former church), the diocese and perhaps members of Temple Sinai - an ecumenical effort! We will be helping clean up at the Early Childhood and Family Learning Center and restoring some homes in the area around the center.

In addition, on June 21st, a dedication celebrating the life and contribution of Nicola Cotton, a New Orleans policewoman, who was killed in the line of duty in the Central City neighborhood where the Early Childhood and Family Development Center is located, and
recognition of Saint Michael's participation in the Center

 Program arrangement is:

SPEAKERS: MAYOR RAY NAGIN, CAPTAIN WARREN RILEY, COUNCILPERSON STACY HEAD, MRS. PHYLLIS LANDRIEU ( FOUNDATION ) AND PAT COOPER (MAHALIA JACKSON).

FOOD: RED BEANS AND RICE AND BBQ CHICKEN ( A LOCAL BUSINESS MAN IS COOKING THE CHICKEN ON THE GROUNDS). POP CORN AND FRUITS
 
MUSIC CAPTAIN CHARLES, BRASS BAND AND THE WILD MAGNOLIA INDIANS. 
 
POLICE/SECURITY: THE 6TH DISTRICT WILL BLOCK OFF THE STREET WITH ADDITIONAL POLICE CARS AND MANPOWER.
