When and What is Homecoming?
It seems hard to believe but Homecoming Sunday, the official start of the church school year, is just around the corner on September 7! This year, Homecoming is just a bit different. It's a little shorter - from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon - and we're not serving lunch. But everything else will remain the same! It is still the day when, now that everyone is back from summer vacation and children are back in school, we throw a party! Homecoming - the single largest parish event of the year! There is something for everyone at Homecoming, and we warmly invite you to join us as we celebrate the start of a new church school year.

AND this year's Homecoming is made even more special because it is the official homecoming and welcome back for The Reverend Christie Olsen!
What Can Homecoming Do for Me?
Homecoming is for you - the parishioner. It's a time to learn about your church, sign up for a class, volunteer for a committee, visit with your fellow parishioners, watch your children play (or join them), and more! Have you heard about Wonderful Wednesdays but aren't quite sure what all is offered? Have you always wanted to serve on the Altar Guild but didn't know how to go about it? Are you really wanting to work on next year's Vacation Bible School but don't know where to sign up? If you want an answer to these questions or some of your own, then you really need to come to Homecoming! Clustered together, under one GIANT tent, are all the ministries within the church, each at their own table, with friendly people who are more than happy to answer all your questions.
But What Can My Children Do?
Homecoming is packed with children's activities! We have bounce houses, a train, crazy hair spray and tattoos, Billy Buttons and clowns. Back this year are the very popular Cupcake Walk and Spin Art. All activities are guaranteed to keep your children highly entertained! And don't forget to bring them with you to the Booth Tent. The imaginatively and cleverly decorated booths are sure to catch the eye of adults and children alike.
Isn't That a Long Way to Walk?
We truly want Homecoming to be an intergenerational event. So if just the thought of trudging out to the Saint Michael parking lot causes you to ache, we have a solution. Again this year, we will have our Homecoming Chariot (a.k.a. golf cart) to transport those parishioners who need a bit of a lift. After all, we want everyone to join in the festivities! Check in with the church receptionist that morning to schedule your pickup.
Is There Anything to Eat?
Although we won't be serving lunch this year, we will be offering breakfast sweets under the Booth Tent. And while roaming around, don't forget to stop for the ever popular sno cones and popcorn or grab a Homecoming cup filled with iced tea or lemonade or a bottled water! And last, but certainly not least, come by our wonderful Angel Food Sale under the ESD porte-cochere.
What is an Angel Food Sale?
The Angel Food Sale is kind of like an expanded bake sale! There you can purchase a variety of goodies, from casseroles to cakes, soups, cookies, and who knows what else!, all homemade by your fellow parishioners. Take home tonight's dinner or dinner for the next few nights - and don't forget dessert! Better yet, why not volunteer to be one of our Angels and cook something yourself to donate to the Angel Food Sale. May I Bring a Friend?
Yes, Yes, Yes! Homecoming is a great way to introduce someone new to our church. And it's also a great morning of fun and information and camaraderie. So think of people you know who might enjoy Homecoming. This is the perfect time to invite a family you're close to, your next door neighbor, friends, family, whomever! Whether it's someone who doesn't have a church, is looking for a new church, or just wants to enjoy a morning of fun and Christian companionship, Homecoming at Saint Michael and All Angels is the place to be!
