Our Core Values

Embrace Christ

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”  John 14:6

We are a community bound together by our love of Jesus Christ and by our love for one another.

We both express this love and receive it in our worship together, especially in the sacrament of the bread and wine.  Every day of every week of every year, Saint Michael and All Angels offers a wonderfully diverse array of services, each designed to meet the needs of our diverse parish family.  In worshipping together, we strengthen ourselves and each other, preparing as best we can to walk in love, as Christ loved us.

Respect the Dignity of Every Human Being

“Will you strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being?  I will with God’s help.”

The Book of Common Prayer

Seeking to mirror the openness of our Redeemer, we offer a place of sanctuary and community to all of God’s children.

As Episcopalians, we come together to fulfill our duty to respect people with differing beliefs and opinions, whether they be found in our own congregation or throughout the world.  We will strive to remember always that it is God’s grace not our's that our community offers, and that His grace is open to all.

“Are Guided by Scripture, Tradition, and Reason"

An Outline of the Faith/Catechism,

The Book of Common Prayer

In seeking how to know how God would have us be, we are guided, as have been generations of Episcopalians before us, by Scripture, tradition and reason.

Scripture is the ancient record of our faith, allowing us to hear in our own time and in our own places the voices of the Old Testament prophets, and more importantly still, the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Tradition is the history of our Christian faith over more than 2,000 years, revealing the wisdom of our ancestors as they strove in their own age to find the paths of righteousness.  And reason, that most unique of human attributes, calls upon us to use all the intellect and logic with which God so richly blessed us to weave together Scripture and tradition in order to find our own way amidst the challenges of our own time.  Understanding God’s will for our lives and for our parish is not always an easy thing.

Share God’s Love with the World

“For faith without works is dead.”
  James 2:26

As followers of the risen Lord, our greatest calling is to bring God’s love into this broken world.

In places close to home and distant lands, the children of God suffer.  And every day, the good people of our parish offer their gifts of time and service and money in hopes of bringing comfort to those in need.  We, the parishioners of Saint Michael and All Angels, are called to serve God by serving each other.  With God’s help, we make a difference in the lives of people in real places.
